Visitor and short-stay visas for Angola
Those going to Angola for short-term visits for holiday or business purposes require a visitor visa. Some countries have agreements with Angola that allow their nationals to obtain a visa on arrival in Angola.
Those who aren’t eligible to obtain a visa on arrival will need to apply for their Angolan visa ahead of time. Nationals of certain countries can apply for a visa online (known as an eVisa) while others will have to apply in person at their nearest Angolan consulate.
There is also the option of short-stay visas, which may be obtained for urgent reasons such as attending a meeting or funeral, or for seeking medical treatment in the country. These may also be granted to, for instance, technicians repairing machinery in the oil sector or sailors who are joining a ship docked in Angolan ports.
Angolan authorities issue several other types of temporary visas including tourist visas, temporary residence permits, ordinary visas, study permits and medical treatment permits. Travellers are advised to check with their consulate what the requirements are for each.
Foreign nationals with significant investment in Angola are granted privilege visas, which allow for stays of up to two years.
Holders of temporary visas aren't allowed to engage in any gainful activity or establish residence in Angola. Applicants may need to submit an itinerary and air ticket when applying for short-term visas.
